McGrinsey Arcade, play.mcgrinsey.com. Short version: this arcade is 18 and up. Without an account you play unmeasured; only the server's access log runs, as on every website. With an account and your yes we measure how you play. With your second yes we build a profile from that and show you fitting games and offers, paid ones and our own included. If you want less, play without an account, or somewhere else.
McGrinsey UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Klein Glien 25, 14806 Bad Belzig, Germany, managing director Johannes Jaehnke. Contact: john@mcgrinsey.com. Legal notice: /impressum.html. Terms of service: /terms.html.
This site sets no cookies for players. It uses your browser's local storage, which stays on your machine and is never read by us from the outside. "Necessary" always runs, "Memory" only after your yes in the cookie window.
| What | Why | Category | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
mcg.consent.v1 | Your choice in the cookie window, so we stop asking | Necessary | Until you clear it |
play_mcg_token | Keeps you logged in, only if you log in (a session lasts 30 days) | Necessary | Until you log out |
mcg.alter.v1 | Remembers the age level of your account ("18"), taken from the date of birth on the account. Without it, measurement and anything marketing-like stay off, whatever the banner says | Necessary | Until you sign out |
Per-game keys, e.g. bb_hi, jiji_bambam_best, memo_theme | High scores, unlocked levels, your settings | Memory | Until you clear it |
arcade.profile, arcade.pendingScores | Arcade profile and scores queued while offline | Memory | Until sent or cleared |
gaetw.player | The name you picked for the world ranking | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.ghost.* (aus, vol, dj, gruss, stelle, besuche) | The arcade music: sound on or off, volume, DJ on or off, whether you heard the greeting, where the lobby track was when you left for a game, how many times you have arrived (the first visits get the title track) | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.hof.audio | How strongly the Hall of Fame reacts to the music | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.lang | Your language choice in the arcade orb | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.backwarn.v1 | How often you have seen the "back to the lobby?" question (after ten times it stops asking) | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg_arcade_joypad_v1 | Your gamepad button mapping | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.pad.name | The name you type on your phone when it serves as a joypad (/pad/) | Memory | Until you clear it |
mcg.chat.* | The arcade chat ("Saalfunk"): switched off, window position, greeting seen. The chat itself is shut down at the moment | Memory | Until you clear it |
Per tab (sessionStorage): mcg.pad.raum, mcg.ghost.ankunft, .imspiel, .griff, .zuletzt, mcg.chat.zu | The room code of your phone joypad, the transitions of the music between lobby and game, the last tracks played, chat window closed | Tab only | Gone when the tab closes |
mcg.utm.v1 | Campaign tags from the address, so a later game in the same tab still knows which ad brought you. Only after your yes to analytics | Analytics, tab only | Gone when the tab closes |
mcg.review.kachel.v1 | Where you last dragged the review camera tile, per game | Memory | Until you clear it |
Until you answer the banner, anything a game wants to save is held in memory only and disappears when you close the tab. Say yes and it is written to disk, including whatever you already earned in that session. Say no and everything keeps working, it just does not survive the tab. That is a real switch, not a notice. The per-tab keys above bypass that buffer because they never survive the tab anyway.
You do not need an account to play. You need one for scores under your name, favourites, saved games in the cloud, and for anything that gets measured.
mcg.alter.v1. Older accounts from before 16 August 2026 add the date in the account window; until then nothing is measured./age-de.xml and an age-de-meta-label on every page for youth protection software. Single games can be rated lower; the badge on the game is what counts. Two levels.
Level 1 runs without an account and without consent, because nothing extra runs on your device for it: we evaluate the server's access log and write a short first-party line per HTML page (path, campaign tags such as utm_source, device class, referrer group, and a shortened network: IPv4 /24 or the first three IPv6 groups). The full IP is never stored. A session key is still sha256(IP + date + secret), cut short, and worthless after 24 hours. Music reports (Ghost in the Arcade) stay as they were. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Level 2 runs only with an account aged 18 or over and your yes to "Analytics" in the cookie window: a reporter in the browser (spur.js) sends to our own server which page you open, which game you start, how long you stay in that game (ticks while you play), when a run ends, and the moment you leave, plus campaign tags from the address, the device class and a tab id that dies with the tab. The server builds the same session key as in level 1 and may keep the shortened network, never the full IP, and no name, email or account number. Nothing is placed on your device for this. Legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. Withdraw any time in the cookie window; the reporter stops in that second.
Retention: reporter events roll at 16 MB; first-party page-view lines (blick.jsonl) roll at 32 MB; music totals sit per day and track without a person attached.
Status 19 August 2026: the reporter is on. Without your yes it still does nothing. After the same yes (account aged 18 or over), the browser loads Google Tag Manager GTM-NXSR744W and Google Analytics 4 G-SYZDV203BJ.
This is the business model of the arcade, and we call it by its name. If you say yes to "Ads" in the cookie window (account aged 18 or over only), we tie the measurement to your account, and a profile grows out of how you play: which games, how long, how well, which music you keep on and which you switch off. From that profile we make recommendations and referrals: to other games and apps whose developers pay us for it, and to our own offers such as klarstern.com and kikiwama.com. That is advertising, and it is labelled as advertising.
Face Invaders turns your face into the boss (camera). Super Guru Bros reads your pulse from the camera image and your breathing from the microphone. Hit Me With Music listens through the microphone for the note you sing. The browser asks you first, and you can say no. In these games image and sound stay on your device: no picture and no sound is sent to our server or stored anywhere (status 16 August 2026, checked in the source). Timeline Blastar can, if you want, record a commentary through your webcam; that video passes through our server to X only when you press post yourself. If that changes, say because a game sends images to the server, it is written here first.
Since 22 August 2026 there are spell games that read your hands and your face through the camera and listen for the spell through the microphone (the first is DaBuDeVeZa). Hand and face recognition runs in your browser with models we host ourselves; no picture leaves your device. Speech recognition runs on your device when your browser can do that; otherwise the browser hands the sound to its maker (Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari) and sends the text back. The game shows which of the two is active, and you can play without camera and microphone with the keyboard. When you play with others, only hand and face points (numbers, no image, no sound) pass through our server to the other players and are not stored.
JIJI BAMBAM has an agent you can write to. What you type goes through our server to OpenRouter (USA) and from there to language models by xAI (Grok); our key stays on the server, and no identifier of yours travels with the text. The route is open without an account and capped (per IP and hour, plus a daily budget). The conversation, your lab book and your notes are kept as a file on our server: with an account under your account number, otherwise under an id your browser gives itself. You can read that file in the game, take it with you as text, and delete it. The narrator in SIMFLIX mode is voiced by ElevenLabs (USA): the text to be read goes there, nothing else.
Timeline Blastar can be connected to your X account (timelineblastar.com; the connection runs through our server). Then we hold the access keys for your X account (reading your timeline, posting, replying, liking), your X name and avatar, and your game profile. Without X you play as a guest with an id from your browser. The Blastar leaderboard is public.
Neuroglancomancer has its own operator panel on this host. After your yes to Analytics (account aged 18 or over), the game may send play facts there: dive in, mapped percent, region, weapon, gel reset, how long you stayed, the moment you leave, device class, and a tab id that dies with the tab. Same session key as level 1, shortened network, never a name. Without your yes it sends nothing. Opening the game page still counts as level 1 in the access log. Play facts roll at 8 MB. Status 6 September 2026.
Universal Music Composer has its own operator panel on this host. The access log still counts an open of the tool (level 1). After your yes to Analytics (account aged 18 or over) the tool may send use facts: desk, ensemble, style, lead, play, record, and that a color changed, plus device class and a tab id that dies with the tab. Same session key as level 1, shortened network, never a name, and never the word you type next to a color. Without your yes it sends nothing extra. Facts roll at 8 MB. Status 25 September 2026.
Some games can post a score to gamesareeatingtheworld.com, a cross-game leaderboard also run by McGrinsey. Its script (gs.js) is embedded on every game page and reports there on load which game is running, so the run time comes from our clock and not from a claim by the browser; your IP arrives as with any request. A score only goes out when a run ends and you have typed a name.
/api/scores?key=… without a key.You can use your phone as a joypad for the big screen: the screen shows a room code, your phone opens /pad/?code=… and sends which buttons you press. Those inputs only pass through our server on their way to the screen; they are not stored, and the room disappears as soon as the screen leaves. The screen keeps the room code in its tab (mcg.pad.raum, sessionStorage) so a game change does not disconnect the phones. No account, no identifier: the name is whatever you type, and it stays inside that room.
The web server records requests to deliver pages and to notice attacks: address requested, time, status, browser identification, and IP address. This is ordinary operation of a web server under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The log rolls by size; at today's traffic that is about six weeks, then the oldest file is gone. These logs are not combined with your account.
The arcade music (the "Ghost in the Arcade") sends one such request when you switch the sound off, turn the DJ off, skip a track or pick another one: which track was playing, at which second, on which page, and why. Nothing else, no identifier, nothing is stored on your device for it, and the server keeps no record of it beyond that log line. From the logs we compute, in memory and as daily totals, which music people stay for and which they switch off. What is kept are totals per day and track, never the log lines and never the IP.
gtm.js for container GTM-NXSR744W. That container fires Google Analytics 4 (G-SYZDV203BJ). Google then sees a page was opened and the usual request data. Ads tags are not attached yet. Transfer: Google's EU-US Data Privacy Framework listing. Without your yes that script is not requested. To the providers in the USA only goes what the function needs and what is listed above. On which basis each transfer rests (EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses) we add per provider; until then this page says plainly: USA.
gs.js from our own world ranking, and Google Tag Manager after your yes to analytics.Under the GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, and you may object (Art. 21) to processing based on legitimate interest (access log, game starts, level 1 of the measurement). Write to john@mcgrinsey.com. You may also complain to a supervisory authority; the one responsible for us is Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg, Stahnsdorfer Damm 77, 14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany, lda.brandenburg.de.

Wer weniger will, spielt ohne Konto oder woanders.

Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
Hit Me With Music hört über das Mikrofon, welchen Ton du singst.
/api/scores?key=… ohne Schlüssel wieder auslesen.
Übermittlung: Googles Eintrag im EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Schreib an john@mcgrinsey.com.
